OUR SPONSORS

Shout Out to
Our Sponsors!

These sponsors are not your typical sponsors.

Each of them found a way to help Fin Action Charters succeed.

We want to tell you their story so you can appreciate them as much as we do.

The Discovery Men

Several men, who all attend the Discovery Church, Sandlake Campus, have been faithful followers of Fin Action Charters for several years.

Every year, they schedule not one, not two, but at least three charters for scalloping. Most times bringing other members from their church to join in the search for scallops.

Last year, they gave Capt. Nita "The Real Deal" hand crafted hat from tarps of Brazilian cargo trucks, signed by all the members. This was a special gift and very thoughtful.

This year, the old Yamaha motor finally gave up and quit running. The Discovery Men – Larry, Bob, Gary, Mark and Mike gathered and prayed to find a way to help.

Prayers were answered, and with the Discovery Men's help and support, we have a new 2023 225HP Yamaha motor.

Other people who helped were Van Akin, Suzanne Bachus, Steve Dean, Rick Medina and Jim Januszewski. We are so thankful to them, and to God for all of the support and love.

Spark Plug & Oil Sponsored by Pearson Group

Every year the Pearson family group goes out with Fin Action Charters during scalloping season. They have been doing so for the past eight years.

A couple of years ago, the boat Saint Thomas was running a little rough towards the end of the first day of their three day charter. So, while the Pearsons were back at the condo fixing up appetizers and an awesome dinner, Captain Nita was trying to trouble shoot the problem.

The mechanics at the marina were all out that day, of course, so Captain Nita asked the help of other captains. Several gave their thoughts. One jumped on the boat and figured out the problem right away. Spark plugs! We replaced them and she ran great.

Come to find out, the Yamaha HPDI likes to eat spark plugs like candy, especially if you do a lot of idling, which is in done on many eco tours. With that in mind about a month or so later, Captain Nita was looking up the best places to purchase affordable spark plugs.

That same day, within that same hour, she got a text from the Pearsons. They asked, "What type of spark plugs do you use and how often do you replace them yearly?...Can we be your spark plug sponsor?"

If that wasn't a God moment, we don't know what is. Thank you Jon and Janet Pearson for your sponsorship. Now you know what it means to us!

Since that time, the Pearsons have been also supplying the expensive synthetic oil needed to run the motor. Every thing helps and we are so grateful!

Swimming Fins
Sponsored by the Burns Family

Over the past ten years, the Burns family spend a weekend scalloping with Fin Action Charters.

One day earlier in the year we set out to find out what our competition was doing and how they were succeeding. So we pretended we were potential customers and called and asked lots and lots of questions.

We found out that they were doing most of the same things we were, but one in particular stood out. They had sponsors. We thought, "Well, that's cool! How are we gonna get some sponsors?"

Within the second week of scalloping, the Burns family arrived on fourth of July weekend, as they always do. This time they all had brand new swimming fins. We asked where they purchased them. They said they had got them last year, but only use them once a year, while scalloping. Hmmm – we thought....

"How would you like to be our Swimming Fin Sponsor?"

And there you have it! Thank you so much for trusting us with your equipment and supporting our business.

The Ray Foundation

There have been many times we have taken Alison Ray and her family out fishing and scalloping. Recently, Alison mentioned that she would like to see her family honored as a sponsor.

After being reminded, by her, that she had donated two sets of ear muffs, several sets of warm gloves, face covers, knit hats and even hand warmers on very cold days out fishing.

Also a brand new net because we forgot ours...oops! Fixed my trailer on the side of the road. Physically replaced my bilge pump...so on, and so on.

After discussing this with my twin sister, she reminded me Alison Ray is part of the reason I am a charter captain to this day. "What?" I said.

My twin told me that back in the late 80's, when I met Alison, I saw her drive a really big boat. It was much larger than my 14 foot john boat with a 10hp Mercury. My twin remembered clearly that I said out loud, "If she can drive a big boat, so can I!"

Thank you Alison Ray, for being a solid foundation for me and Fin Action Charters!
